Healthy Weight Range

There are many great reasons to maintain a healthy weight range.  People who have a BMI (body mass index)  within a healthy range have a lower risk of:

  • heart disease
  • high cholesterol
  • diabetes
  • stroke
  • sleep problems
  • pregnancy complications


Being within a healthy weight range also means that you have more energy to be active and take part in social and sporting activities.

Please note the BMI is not an appropriate test for everyone. For those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, some different ethnicities, aged under 20 years or over 65 years,  or those with very high levels of exercise, the test may be unreliable.
